Car loan with power of attorney for husband in Iraq?

My daughter's husband is currently serving in the Army in Iraq and they need another vehicle. Their only income is his, but she has power of attorney that includes the power to purchase a vehicle or home in his name. Unfortunately, most lending institutions want him present to sign the loan and won't accept her power of attorney. Does anyone know of any reputable lenders that would go that route? My wife and I aren't in a situation in which we could help them, even as a co-signer on the note, so that's not a viable option. Thank you.

I would say that if your daughter and her husband have an account with USAA then they will help your daughter to get a vehicle in his and her name with out him being here. My husband as well is in Iraq and I ended up getting a new car and I used USAA and they helped me thorough everything. That's the only place that I can think of that really works with the military. I think Wells Fargo is really good at helping with problems like that all so. I hope this help and I hope your son in law returns safe from Iraq.

A website I've recommended in the past would be...

Need to know what city you are buying in.

NO reputable car dealer or loan company would take a power of attorney in such a situation.

she needs to buy a cash car even if it isn't pretty.

POAs do not work in such a manner.

have her read 'total money make over'

b4 she gets herself in a mess.

Does she have a general power of attorney or does it specifically say car loan? It use to be that the military legal offices would not give military spouses general POA. You had to get a separate, specific POA for each situation.

Perhaps she should contact the military legal office for advice. It seems strange that reputable lenders wouldn't take a POA.
